Paper Wasp Removal

Paper wasps construct umbrella-shaped paper-like nests with cells on the underside, typically ranging from 1 to 8 inches in diameter. Each nest can house anywhere from 1 to over 25 wasps. These wasps are identifiable by their long, slender bodies, about the width of a pencil and the length of a wine cork. They have orange wings and hairless bodies with yellow and black markings. Paper wasps are most active during the hot afternoons and are commonly found from spring through early fall in locations such as roof eaves, attic vents, bathroom roof vents, and roof tiles.

Nests are treated with a non-pesticide, earth friendly essential oil solution. Nests can be physically removed without deconstructing the infested area, unless a client specifically requests it. For example, nests inside roofing tiles are typically not removable, while those located in roof eaves can be removed.

Our essential oil solution can also be sprayed monthly in high wasp traffic areas, such as in eaves and under roofing tiles. This method helps reduce the wasp population but may not lead to complete elimination.

Fee:

$125 and up, plus drive time . Price is based on a single story home with several small nests. If a there are many nests, prices start at $225 and are adjusted by difficulty of removal and ease of access.

Please submit a removal request describing your unique situation for an estimate. All removals include a site survey (any exterior locations on the house eaves, shed, garage, etc.) to make sure there aren't any other nests. Inspection of attic or crawl space extra and charged by the size of the area needing to be inspected. This removal is most successful when done in the evening once the sun has set to allow all wasps to be present on their nest during the removal process.

Upon inspection of property, estimates may change due to unforeseen difficulties. No work will take place before a price is agreed upon. Minimum fee charged for a home visit is $150 plus drive time to cover booking time and expenses. Prices are based on a $275hr labor and $1/min drive time from Martinez, CA.

Bee Friendly Honey offers a physical hive removal service! Steve is fully licensed and bonded, and we are entirely pesticide free. We offer a sustainable and ecologically sound way to remove pests from unwanted places: hives of removed honey bees are relocated to our apiaries that are located in the Bay Area and the foothills of the Sierras, primarily Angel's Camp and Murphys.

Hives are always removed completely: we never spray and leave the hive as is, as decaying hives and their inhabitants can attract rodents and ants who go after the honey or the larvae. Simply plugging up a hole in the wall in front of the hive will do little good---insects are crafty, and can find alternative ways into your living space!
